Little Cat in the Big City
Not-Mom took me for a car ride today. I didn't like it. I hung from the bars at the front of the carrier and cried. Then she put me in a little basket (but I kept trying to get out, because I wanted to see EVERYTHING--there were lots of people and big noises and everything was all giant-sized, even compared to Not-Mom) and carried me into one of the big buildings where it was more quiet.
It was called Random House. There was a great big lobby where we waited. I squeaked, and lots of people came over to see me. They said I was cute, and they liked my squeaky meow. Some of them didn't even know what I was, and one person said I looked like a baby grizzly bear--I tried to act all big and fierce but everyone just said, "Awwww."
I didn't like the elevator. It was scarier than the car. I felt like I might fall, but Not-Mom held me and cuddled me and told me it was okay, even when I dug my claws into her chest.
We visited someone named Nancy at Ballantine Books, and she cuddled me and let me climb in her hair and hide. She was very happy I came to visit her. Everyone at Random House was nice. I think I might want to grow up to be an author so I can visit nice people at Random House all the time.
